| TRANSLATION SERVICE
Promo-est, an ISO 9001 - 2000 certified (RINA / SINCERT) company, performs translations in all European, Middle-eastern and Asian languages, in all sectors, and at highly competitive prices.
The translation process does not just simply involve converting a text from one language to another, but transposing a message in its entirety, according to the information and cultural context. The use of mother-tongue translators, therefore, is a fundamental requirement which is guaranteed by the constant selection and training of collaborators, continual terminology updating by means of data banks, the creation and use of dedicated glossaries and a painstaking quality control process. Additionally, each job is co-ordinated by a project manager who is responsible for defining the human and technological resources required, the progress of the job and the controls carried out.
Our Italy and foreign customers that operate in the sector of industry, commerce and information technology, have showed they appreciate our reliable and accurate service and the friendly business relationship that is established.
Operating procedures
The operating procedures are divided up into the following stages:
• Planning
• Implementation
• Quality Control
• Localisation
We have built up many specialised dictionaries and dedicated glossaries over the years.
The pure translation work is done by professional mother-tongue translators who are specialised in the sector they translate in, have with a far-reaching knowledge of the language and are members of national and international translators’ associations.
The page-setting of the final version of the document can reflect the original or be based on customer instructions.
• Planning
During the planning stage, the translations are analysed and classified according to the following criteria:
a. the linguistic, technical, scientific and cultural skills required to do the job
b. the specific terminology required
c. the final purpose of the translation
d. the style
The aim of this classification process is to identify specific customer requirements and then assign the translation to a person with suitable skills.
At the start of each project, a Project Manager is appointed to organise the work and ensure that the job is performed and completed according to the agreements made and contracts stipulated with the customer.
The customer and all the staff taking part in the project are informed of the Project Manager’s name.
• Implementation
The translation is done by mother-tongue translators who guarantee an elevated standard of quality as regards accuracy, terminology and style.
Updated and correct terminology is used.
Our marine, legal, plant engineering, software, medical and pharmaceutical glossaries are made available to translators.
Dedicated glossaries are created for new customers and submitted to them for approval.
• Quality control
Promo-Est is one of the few Italian companies to have adopted a Quality system in the sector of translations and multi-language documentation.
This system is certified to UNI EN ISO 9002.
We control the quality of all our services and products on receipt, processing and delivery.
Specific controls are established for each product typology in order to maintain an elevated standard of quality and handle and eliminate any "non-conformities".
Requests for copies of the certificate of conformity or controlled copies of the Quality Manual can be made directly to your usual contact person.
• Localisation
Localisation activities are not just limited to the translation but also involve the adaptation of certain standards (es: units of measurement, currencies, addresses, etc.) depending on the country of destination.
In other words, we set out to provide final users with a product (e.g.: a software programme) that reflects not only standards and conventions, but also the cultural habits of a country.
Specific I.T. skills are required for working with certain types of files (user interfaces, online guides) which, if not suitably processed (hidden codes, hypertext links), may prevent the product from working properly.
The use of assisted translation systems allow rapid updates to be made and ensure consistency of terminology.
The translators working in this sector, co-ordinated by a project manager, are selected on the basis of their language, computer and cultural skills.
