Introduction
From June 12 to 14, 2025, the historic Sala delle Grida of the Palazzo della Borsa in Genoa hosted the second edition of inVulnerabilia, a public, multidisciplinary and participatory event dedicated to promoting a new vision of vulnerability as a cultural and social lever.
Promoted by theUniversity of Genoa through the SRV Center – Security, Risk and Vulnerability, the event involved scientists, institutions, professionals and civil society in an open discussion, with the aim of building a culture of vulnerability capable of facing the challenges of our time in a conscious and shared way.
Three days, three thematic focuses and one goal: to transform fragility into an opportunity for dialogue, resilience and collective progress.
The event
The format of inVulnerabilia stood out for its accessibility, openness and richness of perspectives. Each day featured debates, dialogues and direct testimonies, with strong audience involvement.
The key issues addressed were:
June 12 – Natural Hazards and Climate Change
A day devoted to extreme phenomena such as floods, storm surges and heat waves. Science dialogued with decision makers on the ground. Among the highlights was the dissemination of the results of the RETURN partnership, of which theUniversity of Genoa is a part.June 13 – Cybersecurity and AI
The focus shifted to the protection of data, digital infrastructure and privacy, with insights into the legal aspects and risks of artificial intelligence. Ample space was devoted to the SERICS project, another feather in the Ligurian university’s cap.June 14 – Social Vulnerabilities
A discussion on everyday fragilities: job security, gender violence, marginality, rights. A time for collective listening and reflection on the value of care andinclusion.
The audience participated actively, thanks in part to engaging language, creative visualization tools, and accessible and meaningful moments of discussion.
The role of Promoest
Promoest handled the entire operational organization of the event, ensuring fluidity, quality and consistency with the values of the initiative. Specifically, it was responsible for:
Overall coordination of the three days and evening side events
Reception service and security
Catering service
Production of graphic materials
Audience engagement through visual and creative tools
In collaboration with the International School of Comics in Genoa, a real-time illustrated concept map was created that visually narrated the topics discussed, making each session immediate and understandable even to the uninitiated.
Through this approach, a constant relationship between speakers and participants was fostered in an inclusive, accessible and highly participatory setting.
The Results
inVulnerabilia was able to combine scientific content, accessible language and strong visual impact.
Promoest ensured a smooth, inclusive organization consistent with the values of the initiative. A
event that confirmed the importance of talking about vulnerability not as a weakness, but as
key to building a more aware and prepared society.
